About me:
My name is David and I have over 40 years of driving experience and offer professional driving lessons in the Bracknell & surrounding areas. As well as being a qualified DVSA Approved Driving Instructor, I am a ROSPA Gold Advanced Driver (retested every 3 years) and have maintained this highest civilian driving standard since the age of 19.
What I provide:
I offer manual driving lessons to new drivers with no or little experience behind the wheel through to drivers that have not driven for a few years and need refresher lessons or drivers that have learnt on automatics and want to get their licence to drive manual cars. Whatever your needs, please contact me so we can tailor a package to meet your requirements.
The lessons:
I will pick you up and take you back to any local address (e.g. work, home, school, college etc). Lessons are provided in a new dual controlled Vauxhall Corsa air-conditioned manual car. I offer 1, 1.5 or 2 hour lessons. I believe the lessons should be fun, help you raise your standard of driving and build on your skills to be a safe, confident and courteous driver and it goes without saying, enable you to pass your practical driving test first time!
The driving tests:
I will advise you on booking your theory test which you should do as early as possible and then get you 'test ready' for your practical test. This will include at least one mock practical test and then introducing you to the area where you will take your test (usually Farnborough, Reading, Chertsey or Slough). I will help you find a practical test (many instructors don’t offer this service) and I have had some great success recently finding practical tests for my pupils so you should hopefully not have to wait too long. On your practical test day we will have a lesson just before the test to cover any last minute questions you have and/or practise a bit more.

Availabilty:
If you are free during the day, then I may have more spaces sooner. If you are after evenings these are booked up usually weeks ahead. As you are probably aware there is huge demand for driving instructors and driving tests following COVID so availability is very limited at this time. However please do contact me, as I may have more immediate availability if you can be flexible. I do not work at weekends except for driving tests.
How many lessons do I need?
There is no minimum but I would plan for 30-40 hours (the DVSA recommends 45 hours of professional training) and if you can do some private driving practise you will definitely gain valuable driving experience and increase your chances of passing first time. Please note these are only estimates as every pupil learns and builds confidence at different rates but I will offer guidance on how many lessons you are likely to need once I have seen you drive a few times.
Pricing:
£40 per hour. For new drivers, lessons must be prepaid in blocks of 10 hours minimum, so £400 in total at the time of booking but unused hours are refunded in full.
If you purchase more hours initially as a block in advance (e.g. 20 hours), the price will be discounted to £760 (£38 per hour) and this will immediately reserve all the lessons dates and times in my diary to maintain regular lessons. This option is strongly recommended if you have limited availability to take lessons.
Payment can be made either by bank transfer or by credit/debit card via the TotalDrive app. (More details about the app can be found below).
Whichever option you choose, you will also receive the following key benefits:

Went through 3 driving instructors, David was and is the best instructor I had. He’s friendly, kind and most importantly encouraging. David is a really patient and understanding driving instructor. I highly recommend David for anyone learning to drive. David has made learning enjoyable through being an informative, calm and easy to talk to instructor. He doesn’t only help through giving advice on what to do, but also by explaining the logic and mechanics which helps to bring a greater understanding of driving. I don’t normally write reviews, but I felt compelled to provide feedback for David, my daughters driving instructor. My daughter was a very nervous and anxious driver, yet just one lesson with David and her confidence soared. David is calm, patient, very understanding and provided excellent encouragement and feedback throughout his instruction. So much so that my daughter passed her driving test on her first attempt...no mean feat as the pass rate is only 50% !!!! I have no reservations in recommending David... he really is an excellent driving instructor.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time learning to drive. David is a very good instructor. He is patient and never got angry if I did anything wrong. He has a good sense of humour and very talkative which I liked. I was given great tips which improved my driving so I was ready for my test which I passed first time. I was never pressured into doing something I was not comfortable with which allowed me to go at my own pace. Would definitely recommend David.

I had 10 years of experience to drive in India but UK is different ball game . The best thing about David is , he offers space to learn and grow , understand your skill level hence you will learn and grow faster . He never dominates, this is the big thing as you get chance to learn quickly , you can ask questions comfortably. I had bad experience in past with instructors who try to dominate and feel you like you do not know driving at all ,may be to make more money but I found David has different personality, he is matured enough to judge what his students need , thanks David for the help to get my license in such COVID hit conditions.

I was a late learner and so a bit nervous about starting lessons again due to some not so great lessons when I was younger. However David was a wonderful teacher: very patient, clear instructions and filled me with lots of confidence. Thanks to David I was able to pass 1st time and I'm absolutely thrilled, highly recommended.
